Community Profiles: Augusta Road and North Main
Downtown Greenville is bordered to the southeast and north by two of the Upstate’s most desirable neighborhoods: Augusta Road and North Main, respectively. Both are old, established areas with large trees and housing options that range from historic homes to condos.

Augusta Road / Alta Vista
Located less than a mile from downtown, Augusta Road is known for its location, large established trees, and unique architectural home styles. It encompasses hundreds of homes, many with historic significance. Prices range from $150,000 to well over $1 million. Crescent Avenue is one of the neighborhood’s particularly desirable addresses.
One benefit of living in this area is its close proximity to the shopping and dining options of the Augusta Road commercial district; it offers specialty shops, fine clothing stores, professional services, salons and spas, and more. The neighborhood is also close to Cleveland Park, Falls Park, and the Downtown Greenville YMCA on Cleveland Street.

North Main is comprised of over 2200 families and over 4500 residents. The neighborhood’s history dates back to the early 1900’s era. Many of its homes have been well maintained and updated without losing the old world charm or historical significance. Some of the area’s newer condo developments include The Edge and The Elements, and Earle Street is one of the neighborhood’s particularly desirable addresses.
One benefit of living in this area is that it is located on the downtown trolley route, which makes a continuous loop from Greenville’s historic West End to the Earle Historic District in North Main. The open-air trolleys are free to ride and operate year-round on Thursdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m.
