For Baseball Fans

While Cooperstown, New York, usually takes the cake as the most famous of all baseball cities (It is home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame after all.), Greenville, South Carolina, was recently included in a list of “Best Cities For Baseball Collectors And Enthusiasts.” The main reason is the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum, located in the house where Jackson lived and died. It was also in Greenville where Jackson played the notorious game that gave him the “Shoeless” name.

For Romancewes1255ex-159462-Exterior

Greenville may not be the first city that comes to mind when you think of romance, but it was included in an article by AJC.com naming the five most romantic cities in the Deep South.  The article points out that Greenville’s “rolling hills and lush greenery of its surrounding landscape, while not nearly as dramatic as say, Asheville’s, do elicit a measurable frisson of excitement.” Tack on a stroll through Falls Park, a candlelit dinner at one of our best restaurants, and a stay at The Westin Poinsett Greenville Hotel, and you’ve got yourself a pretty romantic getaway.

For Those Seeking Quality at a Lower Cost

Greenville was also recently included in a Thrillist.com list titled “Underappreciated American Cities You Should Totally Move To.”  The article describes the following: “In terms of overall quality of life and cost of living, these underappreciated cities are all dark-horse candidates to help you author your best move ever.”

Greenville is described as a small Southern city that feels much bigger. The article mentions our restaurants and nightlife options, of course, as well as the many businesses based here. Of Greenville’s cost of living, the article says: “A house here can be had for well under $200,000, and while values have gone up about 3% year over year, rents really haven’t.”
